Robbery Suspect Arrested Yesterday afternoon around 2:53PM, officers were on patrol in the area of Talbot Ave. near the Boys and Girls Club when they were flagged down by a young woman yelling that a suspect had just stolen her cell phone.
As the victim was speaking to officers they observed the suspect running across Talbot Ave. toward Nightingale Street. Officers pursued the suspect and successfully stopped him in front of 104 Nightingale Street. There, the suspect feigned ignorance of what had occurred and told officers that he did not know the victim nor had he taken her cell phone. Officers spoke to the victim who told officers that she was walking down Talbot St. when the suspect walked up to her and asked her for her phone number. The victim reported that when she pulled her cell phone out of her pocket, the suspect grabbed her cell phone and ran.
Officers backtracked the path that the suspect run, called the victim’s cell phone and found the phone when they heard it ringing on the side of the house where the suspect had been stopped. The suspect, Bryan J. Garcia, 17, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Unarmed Robbery.
Purse Snatcher Arrested
Last night around 11:31PM, officers from District A-7 (East Boston) arrested suspect, William T. Gore, 24, of East Boston and charged him with Unarmed Robbery, and Assault and Battery Resulting in Injuries.
Officers initially responded to the area of 80 Orleans St. for a robbery in progress. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who reported that she was just assaulted and her purse stolen. The victim went on to tell officers that she was at the intersection of Orleans St. and Sumner St. when she was approached from behind, assaulted, knocked to the ground, and her bag was then stolen by the victim who fled in the direction of the Maverick Square MBTA station.
Officers canvassed the area and in a short while found an individual matching the suspect description at the intersection of Father Jacobee Rd. and Sumner St., a short distance from where the incident had taken place. The suspect was returned to the scene of the incident where he was positively identified by the victim.
The suspect was arrested and transported to the district station for booking. About an hour after the incident, officers responded to a call from a concerned citizen who found a bag while walking his dog. Officers responded to the location of the caller, and there determined that it was the victim’s bag, which had been stolen.
Call to 911 Results in Firearm Recovery and Arrest
This morning around 4:45AM, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to 104 Wayland St. in Roxbury for a report of a person with a gun. While en route, officers were informed that the suspect was either at 104 or 106 Wayland St. inside a party and that he was a black male, about 5’8” with braids, in his twenties and that he was wearing a black shirt.
On arrival, officers clearly heard loud music coming from the third floor of 104 Wayland St. and determined that the party was indeed at 104 and not 106 Wayland Street. Officers responded to the third floor and there assisted the tenant in dispersing the crowd inside the apartment while officers monitored the stairwell for the described suspect. While monitoring the hallway, officers noticed an individual matching the suspect description walking down the hallway in the company of a female who was walking directly in front of the suspect with the suspect’s arm around her waist. Officers directed the female to walk ahead of the suspect but the suspect attempted to keep her close, until officers physically removed her from the suspect’s arm.
The female now removed as a protective barrier from the suspect, officers attempted to pat frisk him for the presence of a weapon. As soon as officers attempted to pat frisk the suspect, he ran out of the stairway into the street pursued by officers. The suspect, closely pursued by officers, ran down several streets holding his waistband and finally into an alley where he attempted to discard a firearm before he was apprehended by officers.
The suspect was apprehended seconds after he discarded the firearm, and placed under arrest. Officers recovered the firearm, which turned out to be a fully loaded revolver. The suspect, Sharod J. Hopkins, 19, of Mattapan was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct.
