POLICE ARREST THREE FOR ARMED ROBBERY IN DORCHESTERAt about 10:57pm, on Wednesday, August 11, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of 1886 Dorchester Avenue. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that he walking by himself when three black males approached him, showed a firearm and demanded his cell phone. According to the victim, he, initially refused to hand over his phone. But, when he refused, the suspects began to physically assault him. During the altercation, the victim says his phone dropped to the ground. At this point, the suspects grabbed the phone and fled the scene. Officers promptly broadcast a description of the suspects over Channel 6 of the police radio. In short time, officers located three individuals who matched the description of the suspects. When officers approached the suspects, officers observed and located a cell phone lying in direct vicinity of the suspects, approximately 10 to 15 feet away. While talking to the suspects, officers noted that the suspects appeared to be nervous and apprehensive.
While the suspects were being detained, the victim was brought to the location. Once on scene, the victim was able to positively identify the suspects and identify his cell phone. A search of the suspects enabled officers to recover a firearm and a knife. Officers Rayshawn Ross-McCall, 18, of Boston and two 16 year-olds and charged all three with Armed Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
PEEING IN PUBLIC LANDS ONE IN POLICE CUSTODY
At about 1:04pm, on Monday, August 11, 2008, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) were on bicycle patrol when they observed an individual urinating in public in the area of Tamworth and Boylston Streets. As a result, officers approached the suspect and instructed him to stop urinating. Upon hearing the officers, the suspect turned to face them, all the time continuing to urinate. When officers again instructed the suspect to stop urinating, the suspect began to verbally insult and abuse the officers. When the suspect stopped urinating, officers arrested Jose Carabello, 48, of Dorchester and charged him with Indecent Exposure and Disturbing the Peace.
BREAKING INTO CARS LANDS TWO BEHIND BARS
At about 7:55pm, on Monday, August 11, 2008, officers from the Area D-4 Neighborhood Drug Unit were on patrol in the area of W. Dedham & Tremont Streets when they observed two males acting suspiciously. While following the suspects, officers observed the individuals looking into and inspecting the contents of parked motor vehicles. Given the suspect’s behavior, officers sensed that the suspects were looking to break into motor vehicles. IN short time, one of the suspects opened an unlocked car door. With the door open, one of the suspects entered the car while the other suspect stood watch. Seeing this, the officers approached the suspects. Upon reaching the car, officers observed one of the suspects rifling through the car’s glove compartment. Upon looking up and seeing the officers, the suspect inside the car stated, “Oh F*@k!” When officers asked the suspect if he owned the car, the suspect stated, “No.” When officers asked if he knew the owner of the car, the suspect again stated, “No.” Officers arrested William Murphy, 25, of Wilmington and John Walsh, 25, of Quincy and charged both with Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle (Nighttime).
