Stabbing Incident at 142 Harwood Street in DorchesterYesterday around 4:00PM, officers from District B-3 responded to 142 Harwood St. in Dorchester for a person stabbed.
On arrival, officers were directed inside where they observed the victim lying on the floor of the kitchen bleeding and another individual standing by in the kitchen. The victim was immediately transported to Boston Medical Center in critical condition by ambulance where he remains today.
Officers spoke to a witness who reported that the two men, the suspect and the victim who are brothers-in law, had been arguing for most of the week and the argument escalated into a physical fight on this day. Officers received further information that the suspect stabbed the victim during the altercation.
The suspect, Luther Boyd, 42, of Dorchester who was on scene when officers arrived was arrested and charged Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon and will be arraigned today at Dorchester District Court.
No Escape for Two Bicycle Thieves
Last night around 10:39PM, officers from District A-1 (Downtown Boston) responded to the intersection of Charter and Michelangelo Streets for a larceny in progress, two younger looking males trying to steal mountain bikes that were locked to a lamppost.
On arrival, officers canvassed the area but were not able to find anyone matching the suspects’ description. A description of the suspects were broadcast and a short while later, the responding officers received information that two individuals matching the suspects’ description had been stopped by other assisting Boston Police units on the North Washington St. bridge. Once stopped, the suspect could not provide any answers as to where they had gotten the bicycles, not could they provide any documentation of ownership. In addition, an officer that responded to the scene reported seeing the suspects earlier in the evening walking on foot.
Both suspects, Isiah D. Cooper, 21, of Roxbury and Michael D. Smith, 17, of Dorchester were arrested and charged with Larceny over $250.00.
Traffic Stop Leads to Cocaine Trafficking Charge for Operator
This morning around 1:23AM, officers from District D-4 (South End) were on patrol on Washington St. in the South End when they observed a car traveling a at a high rate of speed fail to stop for a read light at Washington and Union Streets.
A motor vehicle stop was conducted a short distance during which officers asked the operator of the car for his license and registration. The suspect handed officers a Massachusetts identification card and told officers that he did not have his license on him, but assured them that he was licensed to drive. Check of the operator’s license via the Mobile Data Terminal revealed that the suspect’s license was suspended. The suspect was removed from the car and placed under arrest for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
Officers then in the course of performing a motor vehicle inventory search located a dollar bill, which officers know is commonly used to secret powdered drugs. As officers continued their inventory search, they located three vials containing a white powdered substance believed to be cocaine, and two empty vials. Officers, now sensing that the suspect may have more drugs in the car and may be involved in drug dealing, continued their search and located eight more vials containing the same powdery substance consistent with cocaine, two partially filed vials and thirty empty vials, Glad plastic bags and an electronic scale.
The suspect, LT Tyler-Smith, 27, of Roxbury was transported to the district station and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Trafficking Class A, and Trafficking Class B.
