DAILY INCIDENTS FOR MONDAY, JULY 7, 2008

OVER THE LIMIT … UNDER ARREST IN MATTAPANAt about 3:18am, on July 7, 2008, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) observed a dark purple-colored Honda traveling inbound in the area of 1336 Blue Hill Avenue. Officers observed that the motor vehicle had extensive front-end damage including a front bumper that appeared to be recently torn from the vehicle. As a result of these observations, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. While talking to the operator of the motor vehicle, officers detected an odor of alcohol emanating from within the car. When officers asked the operator to explain the damage to his car, the driver stated, \”I don’t know.\” Officers further observed the operator to have slurred speech and glassy eyes. As a result of the officer’s observations, a field sobriety test was administered. Given the operator’s inability to perform and pass the test, officers arrested Kemar Scott, 21, of Dorchester and charged him with Operating Under the Influence (Alcohol) and Leaving the Scene After Causing Property Damage.
THREE ARMED ROBBERS ARRESTED NEAR BOSTON COMMON
At about 12:26am, on July 7, 2008, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of the Public Garden. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that three Hispanic males approached him, showed a knife and demanded money. According to the victim, after taking an undisclosed money and his iPod, the suspects fled. Officers then drove the victim around the Boston Common in hopes of finding and locating the suspects. In short time, the victim observed the individuals who robbed him. After all the suspects were positively identified, officers arrested two 16 year-old males from Boston and a 15 year-old from Roslindale and charged all three with Armed Robbery.
IT’S A DRIVE-THRU … NOT A DRIVE-IN
At about 1:55am, on Monday, July 7, 2008, officers from D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for a car crashing into (the Mercantile Bank) in the area of 423 Washington Street. On arrival, officers observed damage to the rear of the building. Specifically, officers observed damage to a pair of glass doors and a brick wall. Officers further observed tire marks leading onto the sidewalk and into the building. According to witnesses, a car drove into the rear of the building. After the car hit the building, witnesses say they heard someone yell, “Oh damn .. my dad is gonna kill me.” Although unable to see the license plate, witnesses described the motor vehicle as a gray Honda. A City of Boston building inspector responded to the scene, inspected the building and deemed it safe.
