Stealing a Marked Boston Police Bicycle is Never a Good IdeaYesterday around 12:00PM, officers from District 1 (Downtown Boston) arrested suspect, Donald Gallo, 28, of Avon and charged him with Larceny over $250 for stealing a marked Boston Police bicycle.
A Boston Police officer assigned to the bicycle, while assisting another officer performing a car stop at the intersection of Washington and Essex Streets, parked his bicycle on the sidewalk and walked over to the stopped car. After the car stop, the bicycle officer walked over to where the bike had been left and noticed it was no longer there. At about the same that the bicycle officer observed his bike missing, a detail officer stopped the suspect who was seen riding the bicycle in the area of Beach Street to determine what he was doing riding a Boston Police bicycle. A broadcast was made regarding the suspect riding the bicycle and he was immediately tied in to the stolen bicycle from Washington and Essex Streets.
The suspect, who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, was stopped and placed under arrest for stealing the bicycle, but not before he told officers that he had found the bicycle.
Search Warrants Take Down Drug Ring
Yesterday, Thursday, May 22, 2008, officers from District B-2 Drug Unit assisted by officers assigned to the Immigrations, and Customs Enforcement agency arrested the below name suspects after a lengthy investigation, and the execution of several search warrants. Suspect, Hector Rivera, 25, of Dorchester was arrested after the execution of a search warrant at 50 Harvard St. in Dorchester where he was found to be in possession of marijuana, a Class D substance. Suspect, Jaime R. Colon-Santana, 30, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Forgery of a Government Document an outstanding warrant for Trafficking Class B within 1, 000’ of a Play Ground, Trafficking Class A, Trafficking Class B, Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws pursuant to the same search warrant at 10 Harvard Ave. in Dorchester. In addition, officers arrested suspects, George Pellot AKA Franklin Alexander Moreta, 27, of Dorchester during a search warrant at 136 Seaver St. in Dorchester and charged him with Trafficking Class A, Trafficking Class B, Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws and Providing a False name to Police. During the same search warrant, officers additionally arrested suspect, Frances Santos-Arroyo AKA Victoria Pena, 39, of Dorchester and charged her with Trafficking Class A, Trafficking Class B, Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws and Providing a False Name to Police.
As a result of this investigation, and the search warrants executed at the two noted addresses above, officers recovered a total of 40 bags of heroin totaling more than 46 grams in weight, and 56 bags of cocaine totaling more than 50 grams in weight. In addition, officers also seized close to $20,000.00, numerous cell phones, several scales generally used to weigh narcotic drugs, and an assortment of items used to package and prepare drugs for distribution.
