PURSE SNATCHER ARRESTED DOWNTOWNAt about 1:13am, on Friday, March 14, 2008, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a larceny in progress at the corner of Tremont and West Streets in Boston. On arrival, officers spoke to the victims who stated, as they were entering the Boston Common, a white male approached them, snatched one of their purses and ran off. Victim described the suspect as a 5’9” white male, medium build, wearing a black jacket and a gray-hooded sweatshirt. A description of the suspect was promptly broadcast over Channel 2 of the police radio. In short time, officers located an individual matching the description of the suspect. While officers were speaking to the suspect, the victims were transported to the scene for identification purposes. After being positively identified by the victims, officers arrested Richard Imperato, 28, of Malden and charged him with Unarmed Robbery.
OVER THE LIMIT – UNDER ARREST IN SOUTH BOSTON
At about 8:06pm, on Friday, March 14, 2008, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for a motor vehicle accident in the area of 124 W. 7th Street. On arrival, officers spoke to several witnesses who stated that they observed the operator of a red motor vehicle strike several parked cars along W. 7th Street. Officers observed damage to approximately 8 to 9 cars. When officers spoke to the operator of the red motor vehicle, the operator appeared to be intoxicated. Specifically, officers made note of the operator’s slurred speech and the fact that the operator smelled of alcohol and appeared unsteady on his feet. When asked about the accident, the suspect told officers that the axle broke on his car. When asked to recite the alphabet, the suspect was incapable of doing so. Officers arrested Joseph McDonald, 47, of South Boston and charged him with Operating Under the Influence (Alcohol).
OFFICERS CALL HOUSEBREAKER’S BLUFF IN DORCHESTER
At about 9:20pm, on Thursday, March 13, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress in the area of 236 Geneva Avenue. On arrival, an individual, who stated that he lived in the 1st floor apartment, approached officers. The individual told officers that he had to break a front porch window in order to gain entry because he had misplaced his key. To verify the suspect’s story, officers contacted the owner of the building. When asked about the suspect, the building owner told officers that no such person lived in the apartment. Officers arrested Carlos Salazar, 41, of Dorchester and charged him with Breaking & Entering a Residence (nighttime). Officers located a 2nd suspect hiding in a closet inside the residence. That suspect, Eduardo Rivera, 22, of Chelsea was also arrested and charged with Breaking & Entering a Residence (nighttime).
