WRONG WAY CABBIE ARRESTED FOR REFUSING TO PROVIDE A LICENSEAt about 4:35am, on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) observed a motor vehicle, specifically a taxi, traveling the wrong way on a one-way street. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. When asked to produce a license and registration, the operator of the cab hit the steering wheel and muttered, “Come on.” When asked again, the operator refused to honor the officer’s request. At this point, officers advised the operator that his refusal to provide a license could lead to his arrest. After asking for a forth time, officers arrested Sabestine Onyeka, 35, of Brockton and charged him with Refusing to Submit to a Police Officer.
HOUSE BREAK IN JAMAICA PLAIN LANDS FOUR IN POLICE CUSTODY
At about 11:40am, on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for a residential alarm at 16 Bowditch Road in Jamaica Plain. On arrival, officers were able to hear an alarm emanating from 16 Bowditch Road. Officers spoke to a witness who stated, upon hearing the alarm, he looked out his window and observed a green Honda occupied by 3 to 4 males. Before the car drove off, the witness says he was able to read a part of the motor vehicle’s license plate. Officers quickly broadcast the information over Channel 4 of the police radio. While still on scene, officers inspected the home for signs of a break-in. In the back of the home, officers were able to observe an open window and a freshly cut screen. Officers also observed footprints, possibly two sets, in and around the window. A short time later, officers located and stopped a motor vehicle matching the one seen leaving the area. While speaking to the occupants of the motor vehicle, the witness was brought to the scene where he was able to positively identify the car and its occupants. Officers arrested Nilvio Baez, 17, of Milton, George Acosta, 17, of Mattapan, John Torres, 19, of Mattapan, Felix Torres, 22, of Everett and charged all four with Breaking & Entering a Residence (Daytime).
ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY SPELLS TROUBLE FOR TWO JUVENILES IN HYDE PARK
At about 1:23pm, on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, an individual entered the Area E-18 police station (Hyde Park) and told officers that he just been robbed. According to the victim, two black males approached him and said, “Give me your cell phone or you’re gonna get shot.” At this point, the victim says he fled and ran directly to the police station. Victim told officers that the incident took place at a bus stop in the area of 1300 River Street. Officers, accompanied by the victim, returned to the scene of the crime. Once on scene, the victim quickly spotted the suspects who attempted to rob him. Officers arrested a 16 year-old male from Hyde Park and a 15 year-old male from Dorchester and charged both with Attempted Armed Robbery.
