TWO ARRESTED FOR BREAKING INTO CARS IN JAMAICA PLAINAt about 3:30am, on Friday, January 18, 2008, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for a person or persons breaking into cars in the area of Ballard and Custer Streets. While en route to the call, officers received information via the police radio that there were two suspects, one wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. Responding officers then observed two suspects less than a block away from the original call. One of the suspects was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. While officers detained the suspects, one of the victims was brought to the scene. On arrival, the victim was able to identify the suspects. According to the victim, he heard breaking glass outside his home. When he looked out his window, he observed the suspects breaking into his car. Officers located two other vehicles with broken windows. A search of the suspects enabled officers to recover a large screwdriver and a flashlight. Officers arrested Glen Gonzalez, 27, of Boston and Mitchell Gonzalez, 23, of Hyde Park and charged both with Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle (Night), Possession of Burglarious Tools and Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property. Officers also noted that of the cars that broken into, all had GPS mounts on their windshields.
VICTIM TURNS OUT TO BE A SUSPECT
At about 10:35pm, on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for an assault & battery in progress in the area of 21 Symphony Road. On arrival, officers spoke to the occupants of the apartment who stated that two individuals entered their apartment and robbed them. According to the victims, a friend entered their apartment. However, when he was entering his apartment, the two suspects walked up from behind, pushed him down and entered the location as well. Once inside the apartment, the two suspects told the occupants that they were armed, demanded money and then fled. According to the occupants, one of the suspects was carrying what looked like a taser gun. While officers were speaking to the victims, it became apparent that one of the victims, specifically the one who allowed the suspects to enter the apartment, may not have been telling the truth. Upon further questioning, the victim told officers that he was, in fact, an accomplice to the crime. According to the individual, he knew the suspects who committed the robbery and knew where to find them. Officers then followed the victim-turned-suspect to an apartment on Massachusetts Avenue. Upon entering the apartment, officers were able to locate the suspects and seize a taser gun. The suspects were then brought back to the scene of the robbery where the victims positively identified them.
Officers arrested Steven Wood, 21, of Pepperell, Frank Douglas, 21, of Fitchburg and Justin President, 21, of Allston and charged all three with Home Invasion While Armed, Armed Robbery, Assault By Means of a Dangerous Weapon and the Unlawful Possession of an Electronic Device.
PURSE SNATCHER ARRESTED IN THE SOUTH END
At about 4:59pm, on Tuesday, January 15, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a larceny in progress at the intersection of Tremont Street and Massachusetts Avenue. On arrival, officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they observed a white male, wearing a gray shirt and beige pants, snatch the victim’s purse and then run. Witnesses further stated that the victim was chasing the suspect down the street. Officers then located the victim. According to the victim, she lost sight of the suspect in the area of Camden Street. A short time later, officers located an individual matching the description provided by the victim. After the suspect was positively identified, officers arrested William Corverse, 39, of Boston. During the booking process, the suspect stated, “Can you tell the lady I’m sorry.”
