CAR STOP LANDS TWO IN CUSTODYAt about 1:29am, on Monday, November 26, 2007, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) observed a motor vehicle make an illegal turn on to Columbus Avenue. Specifically, officers observed the motor vehicle turn without signaling. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the motor vehicle. As officers approached the motor vehicle, officers were able to detect an odor of marijuana emanating from within the car. When asked about the marijuana, the operator of the motor vehicle stated, “We smoked some about an hour ago.” A search of the motor vehicle produced an undisclosed amount of marijuana and various drug paraphernalia (plastic bags & rolling papers). Officers then searched the operator and the passenger of the car. Officers discovered a firearm in the passenger’s waist area. Officers seized a silver and black firearm.
Officers arrested Robert Maloney, 19, of Roxbury and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition. Officers also arrested Jesus Ramos, 21, of Roxbury and charged him with the Possession of a Class D Drug (Marijuana).
BANK ROBBER ARRESTED IN HYDE PARK
At about 10:32am, on Monday, November 26, 2007, officers from Area E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to a radio call for a hold-up alarm at the Sovereign Bank at 950 American Legion Highway. On arrival, officers spoke to bank employees who stated that they had just been robbed. The suspect was described as a white male, in his 40\’s, possibly Italian or Spanish, 5\’6\” to 5\’8\”, slim, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black knit hat. According to bank employees, the suspect walked up to the window, passed the teller a bag and then demanded that it be filled. Witnesses say they observed the suspect run out of the bank with money in hand and that a dye pack exploded in the parking lot. A description of the suspect was broadcast over all channels of the police radio.
Approximately a half hour later, an individual matching the description of the suspect was observed in the area of the Forest Hills MBTA Station. On arrival, officers observed an individual with red dye on his hands. When asked about robbing the bank, the suspect stated, “Ok. You got me.” Officers arrested Daniel Webster, 41, of Hyde Park and charged him with Unarmed Bank Robbery.
