This morning around 6:31am, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan/Dorchester) responded to 15 Southmere Rd. in Mattapan for a person shot. There, officers located a 17 year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to Boston Medical Center by ambulance in critical condition. The victim’s condition has since been upgraded to stable.On initial approach, officers were flagged down by family members who directed them to an upstairs bedroom where the victim had been taken after being found suffering from a gunshot wound. In the bedroom, officers observed an individual applying pressure to the victim’s wound. EMTs arrived on-scene shortly thereafter and transported the victim to Boston Medical Center.
Officers spoke to witnesses on scene and learned that the victim, shortly before being shot, walked out of the back door of his house to start his car that was parked in the driveway. Moments later several shots were heard. In addition, witnesses describe seeing either a “shiny silver car’ or a white Cadillac in the area and also describe seeing the same car fleeing the area toward River Street after the shots were fired.
The Boston Police Department is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this shooting incident.
