BOSTON POLICE SEEK ASSAULT SUSPECTBoston Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man suspected of assaulting three women in East Boston. The women all report that they were walking in the area of Porter Street and the Airport MBTA station. The Boston Police Department Area A-7 detectives along with the Sexual Assault Unit are investigating these three incidents that took place in the early morning hours.
Incident Descriptions:
1) Today at approximately 4:30am, officers responded and met with the first victim, who stated that she was approached from behind by a suspect armed with a screwdriver. The victim engaged in a brief struggle with the suspect and then fled.
2) While investigating the first incident, officers responded to the scene of the first assault. While there, officers heard a woman scream from a short distance away. Officers quickly made their way toward the second victim. The second victim stated that she was approached by a suspect who made sexually explicit statements to her. The second victim also engaged in a brief struggle with the suspect and the suspect fled.
At that time, the suspect was unsuccessfully pursued by Massachusetts State Police and Boston Police officers.
3) Officers soon thereafter received a report of a third victim. The
third victim reported that she was attacked while walking by a similarly described suspect. The victim reported that she fought off the suspect and provided a similar description as the other two victims.
At this time, The Boston Police Department believes that the victims were assaulted by the same suspect.
Suspect Description: Light skinned, Hispanic male with dark colored eyes, and high cheek bones, about, 5’7”-5’8”, 140 lbs, 18-25 years old, approximately 140lbs, last seen wearing tan pants, dark colored/black t-shirt with re lettering and a black baseball cap.
Detectives are canvassing the area looking for the assailant responsible for these incidents. In addition, we hope that someone will step forward and provide the information that Detectives need to locate and arrest this dangerous suspect.
There will be increased patrols in the area and the Boston Police Department is asking residents to be vigilant and provide any information that they feel may be useful by calling CrimeStoppers.

· Always be aware of your surroundings–especially at night. When parking, walking or returning to your car, remain in well-lit and populated areas.
· Wear sneakers if possible for extra mobility.
· Be watchful – who is out there and what is going on. Keep your head up. Make quick eye contact with those around you and be observant of passing vehicles. Do not become distracted by talking on a cell phone or listening to an iPod/similar device.
· Avoid walking alone late at night. Attempt to walk with people that you are familiar with.
· Keep a whistle within reach. If you feel threatened, use the whistle to signal to residents that you need assistance. Yelling ‘Fire!” “Help!” and/or “”Rape!” as you are being assaulted also signals people to assist you.
· Hold your car keys in your hand to use as a weapon against an attacker.
· Carry a cell phone with you.
· Call ahead to your destination to let them know that you are on your way. Make sure they expect you at a certain time, so that they may look out for you upon your arrival or will know to look for you if you do not arrive.
· Walk with confidence. Be assertive – do not let anyone violate your space. Trust your instincts. Accept the fact anyone can be a victim of crime– do not simply assume \”IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO ME.\”
· Believe that if an unarmed attacker confronts you, you may be able to scare, distract, or even incapacitate the person enough to escape.
· If you think that someone is following you, switch direction or cross the street. Walk toward an open store, restaurant or lighted house.
