MAN WITH KNIFE ARRESTED IN EAST BOSTONAt about 8:25pm, on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for a person with a knife on Meridian Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated he was threatened by a man with a knife. The victim then provided officers with a description of the suspect. A short time later, officers located an individual fitting the description provided by the victim. As officers were talking to the suspect, the suspect stated, “I know what this is about .. (but) the guy came at us.” Officers then arrested Otto Vasquez, 21, of East Boston and charged him with Assault By Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Knife). As officers were in the process of arresting the aforementioned suspect, another individual, a friend of the suspect, lunged at officers and yelled, “Leave him alone.” Officers then arrested a 16 year-old male from East Boston and charged him Disorderly Conduct.
OUT OF CONTROL MOTORIST ARRESTED IN DORCHESTER
At about 7:05pm, on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) observed a motor vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Bowdoin and Adams Streets. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the motor vehicle. When the motor vehicle came to a stop, the operator of the motor vehicle jumped out of his car and began yelling and screaming into his cell phone. For the safety of all involved, officers instructed the operator to return to his vehicle. The operator jumped in and, then, jumped out of his motor vehicle. In doing so, the operator threw his license and registration on the roof of his car. Again, officers instructed the operator to return to his vehicle. Instead, the individual continued to yell and scream while walking in and out of traffic. Officers arrested Peter Rivera, 27, of Dorchester and charged him with Disorderly Conduct. Once in custody, officers searched the suspect and discovered two knives. As a result, officers also charged the suspect with the Unlawful Carrying of a Dangerous Weapon.
