TWO ARRESTED AFTER ATTEMPTED B&EYesterday afternoon at 3:11pm, officers responded to 46 Westland Avenue for reports of a Breaking and Entering in progress. A description of the suspects was broadcasted as two males, one with short dreadlocks and a white hat. On arrival, officers requested backup to the rear of the building as they proceeded to enter the residence. As they came up the stairs onto the fourth floor landing, the officers observed two males fitting the description given by the police dispatcher and immediately commanded the suspects to put their hands up.
As the officers attempted to handcuff the suspects, one became uncooperative and attempted to flee. As he ran down the stairs, he proceeded to drag the arresting officer with him. The suspect broke free and fled the building out of the rear door. A foot pursuit began through the neighborhood of St. Stephens Street and Gainsborough Street, finally ending at 52 Gainsborough Street. The suspect continued to resist arrest, but officers were able to subdue and eventually handcuff him.
Meanwhile, back in the hallway of the apartment building, officers placed the other suspect under arrest as well. A witness who had observed the men in the act positively identified both suspects. A search of the suspects produced a screwdriver and crowbar, both of which were placed into evidence.
Juan Torres, 27, was arrested for Breaking and Entering during the Day of a Dwelling/House and Possession of Burglarious Tools. Carlos Torres, 31, was arrested for Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Breaking and Entering during the Day of a Dwelling/House and Possession of Burglarious Tools. Both men are from Roxbury.
PERSON SHOT ON CHENEY STREET
About 6:15pm last night, officers responded to a radio call for a person shot on Cheney Street in Roxbury. On arrival, officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the calf. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center and treated there for his injuries.
A second victim was located on Nazing Street. The victim told officers that an unknown and armed assailant robbed him of his gold chain. He stated that during a struggle with the suspect, he was struck across the head with the suspect’s firearm. The suspect fled the scene with the firearm in an unknown direction. The second victim was then transported to the hospital as well. Police did recover ballistic evidence as well as a firearm.

SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER STABBING
Last night at 11:26pm, officers responded to a radio call for a person stabbed on Hansborough Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers observed a victim suffering from stab wounds and being treated by EMS. He told officers that the man who stabbed him lives down the street and had fled to his residence after the attack.
Officers then attempted to gain entry to the residence but to no avail. The Boston Fire Department was radioed for assistance in gaining entry to the building. Firefighters forcibly gained entry to the residence and allowed officers to enter. The suspect was apprehended inside of the dwelling and placed under arrest.
The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center via EMS for non-life threatening wounds to the leg and chest. The victim told officers he and the suspect were engaged in a verbal argument when the suspect brandished a knife. Arrested for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon was Richard Almond, 43, of Dorchester.
