Gunshot Victims from Morse Street and Washington Street Expected to SurviveAround 4:42pm, yesterday, Thursday, August 16, 2007, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to the intersection of Morse and Washington Streets for a person shot. On arrival, officers located three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims, ranging in age from 17, 19 and 21 years of age were all transported to Boston Medical Center where their injuries were deemed to be non-life threatening.
Bowdoin “Safe Street Team” Arrests Four and Improves Quality of Life
About 9:45pm, yesterday, Thursday, August 16, 2007, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) Bowdoin “Safe Street Team” responded to a radio call for a group of teens smoking marijuana at 7 Tebroc Street. On arrival, officers observed a group of four males standing on the corner of Tebroc Street and Bowdoin Street. This area has been the subject of numerous citizen complaints for teens trespassing after dark, and smoking marijuana.
As officers approached this group, they observed one of the members of the group quickly discard an item on the ground and again reach in his pockets and throw some other items to the ground. Officers recovered the discarded items and determined them to be a plastic bag containing nine individually wrapped plastic bags of what was believed to be marijuana, and one partially smoked marijuana cigarette. Officers also recovered marijuana from one of the other individuals on scene.
One 15-year-old juvenile was arrested and charged with Possession of Class D with Intent to Distribute, another 15-year-old was arrested and charged with Possession of Class D. Two other juveniles, a 14-year-old juvenile and a 15-year-old from Dorchester were also arrested and charged with Trespassing. All four juveniles hail from Dorchester.
Shooting Incident at Dudley Street and Howard Avenue
At approximately 10:03pm last night, Thursday, August 16, 2007, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the intersection of Dudley St. and Howard Ave. for a person shot. There, officers located a 17-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center by ambulance where his wounds were determined to be non-life threatening.
Suspect Arrested after Discarding Firearm in Bushes
Last night around 10:03pm, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested suspect, Charles Gales, 17, of Mattapan and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Norfolk St. and Mildred St. around 10:03pm when they observed several individuals congregating in the basketball courts. It should be noted that this area/park has been the subject of concern for police officers and area residents. As officers stopped their motor vehicle, and came to a stop, they immediately noticed that one member of the group, the suspect named above, was quickly breaking away from the group, clutching his side as if armed with a gun. The suspect quickly pedaled away from officers, disappearing behind some bushes, and resurfaced a short time later.
Officers detained the suspect based on his actions, and searched behind the bushes where the suspect had disappeared. There, officers located a loaded gun hidden in the bushes. Before officers could inform the suspect the nature of the found object, he disavowed ownership, stating that officers “ . . .better print that, it’s not mine!” Suspect was arrested and charged with the above offenses.
Loud Party Ends in Quiet Night at the Station
Just after midnight this morning, August 17, 2007, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a 911 call reporting a loud party at 121 Calumet Street in Mission Hill. On arrival, officers could hear music and people talking from the third floor porch, so they proceeded to the third floor apartment. A female occupant let the officers into the apartment, where approximately twenty guests were observed.
The residents were located and asked for identification, at which point one of the females became uncooperative and snatched her ID from the officers hand, stating that she did not have to give them her information. As the officer attempted to place her under arrest, the suspect was resistant and attempted to avoid being handcuffed. At this time, another resident became confrontational with the officer and she was also placed under arrest. A third roommate was located soon after and also placed under arrest with the other two suspects because officers deemed them all equally responsible for the party.
Jenna Caiella, 23, of Plainfield, New Jersey, Stephanie Soares, 22, of New London, Connecticut, and Sarah Greenemier, 23, of Middlesex, New Jersey were arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

This morning at 2:40am, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to 940 Parker St. for a call for shots fired. On arrival, officers located two victims. A 25 year-old male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and a 28 year-old male suffering a gunshot wound. The 25 year-old victim was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The 28 year-old victim was also transported by ambulance to Boston Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
