BOSTON POLICE TO ADMINISTERDETECTIVES EXAM EARLIER THAN EXPECTED
Today the Boston Police Department announces that the Detectives Exam will be administered one month earlier than originally anticipated. As a result of the disqualification of the Detectives Examination on June 30, 2007, the Department will administer a re-test on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the BCEC. Upon working with the testing company, the BPD was able to move the test date up from the October date previously stated.
Police Commissioner Davis stated, “The Department is committed to investigating the circumstances surrounding the June 30, 2007 examination, and will take additional precautions to ensure the integrity of the re-examination. I am fully committed to filling the vacant detectives’ positions as soon as possible.\”
Only those officers who registered for, and took, the June 30, 2007 exam will be permitted to take the re-examination, with the exception of officers who were on active military duty on June 30, 2007. The reading list will remain the same, with the exception of Practical Aspects of Interview and Interrogation, which is removed from the study material.
Scores will be based on the written exam and candidates will receive additional points for level of higher education, time-in service and quality of experience.
