“Operation Spring Cleaning” Renders Cleaner, After a Weekend of RainOn Sunday, May 20, 2007, officers from A-1 in conjunction with members of the A-1 Drug Unit conducted “Operation Spring Cleaning” as part of an ongoing effort to combat drug dealing in the Downtown/Boston Common area. Feeling that this issue of drug dealing substantially affects the quality of life for visitors to the area, merchants and residents, Boston Police takes seriously any and all issues affecting residents and visitors to the area and endeavors to fight these problems.
This operation was successfully conducted due to the joint effort of plain-clothes/undercover officers and uniformed officers cooperatively going out and locating drug dealers through investigation, and placing them under arrest.
Michael E. DeRuvvo, 36, of Boston was charged with Resisting Arrest, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B within 1,000’ of a School Zone, and Michael A. McGhee, 23, of Roslindale was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B within 1,000’ of a School Zone. A third suspect in the company of the above two suspects, Leshia Smith, 27, of Roxbury was arrested and charged with Operating After Suspension.
Eric W. Weeks, 45, of Roxbury and John M. Manago, 22, of Dorchester were arrested and charged with Distribution of Class B, and Distribution of Class B within 1,000’ of a School Zone.
David A. Humberto, 27, of Boston and Michael Carlo, 29, of Boston were both arrested and charged with Distribution of Class A, and Distribution of Class A within 1,000’ of a School Zone.
In addition to the abovementioned individuals being placed under arrest for the noted offenses, several outstanding warrants were also cleared, over $800 dollars seized, along with drugs and a cell phone.
Suspect Arrested After Stealing Beer
Last night around 7:06pm, officers from District A-7 responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress at Marion and White Streets. On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated that he was walking out of the convenient store at Meridian Street and White Street with a twelve pack of beer when he was approached by a white male dressed in black with a black cap, who told him to hand over the beer or something bad was going to happen. The victim stated he gave the suspect the beer and the suspect fled towards Saratoga Street. Officers observed the suspect turn into an alleyway near 347 Meridian Street and retrieve a bicycle. Roberto Soto, 17, of East Boston was arrested and charged with Larceny from a Person and Possession of Class D.
