Boston Police Mountain Bike Unit Nets Five Arrests

On March 29, 2007 at approximately 5:22 pm, while on patrol in the area of Howard Avenue and Howland Street, officers from the Boston Police Mountain Bike Unit arrested Aric Williams, 36, of Dorchester on an outstanding warrant for Failure to Attend Jury Duty, Possession of Class D and Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle.That same evening around 7:07 pm, officers from the Mountain Bike Unit were riding on Hancock Street towards Cameron Street and observed a motor vehicle with the driver’s side door open while the engine was running. Officers could smell a very strong odor of marijuana coming from the motor vehicle. As a result, Jaoa Cardoso, 24, of Rhode Island, Otelino Goncalves, 21 of Lynn and Alberto Mendes, 22, Dorchester were all arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D. Also arrested on outstanding warrants for Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle and Distribution of Class B with in 1000’ of a School Zone was Steve Depina, 20, of Cambridge.
Officers recovered several bags of Marijuana from the suspects.
