ONE LESS GUN ON THE STREETSAt about 6:49pm, Wednesday, March 28, 2007, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force observed a motor vehicle driving erratically along Hyde Park Ave. While following behind the vehicle, officers then observed the car blow through a stop sign. As a result, officers then activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. As officers approached the vehicle, officers immediately detected the strong odor of what they believed to be marijuana. When officers questioned the operator about the smell, she replied, “I was only smoking a cigarette.” Officers then asked all 3 occupants to exit the vehicle. During a search of the car, officers discovered a handgun under the front passenger seat. As a result, officers then arrested Eric Davis, 23, of Dorchester, and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition. Officers also recovered 2 large bags of marijuana. Officers then charged the operator of the vehicle, Tamia Brown, 23, of Hyde Park with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug (marijuana).
TWO IN CUSTODY AFTER STABBING INCIDENT
At about 2:27am, on Thursday, March 29, 2007, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) observed several men involved in a verbal dispute opposite 162 Lincoln Street. According to officers, the verbal dispute soon turned into a physical altercation. During the fight, officers observed Jason Hunter, 30, of Watertown, run out of the fray with an open knife in his hand. Officers then located 3 individuals with non-life threatening stab wounds. As a result, Hunter was arrested and charged with Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (knife). Witnesses also told officers that they observed George Kelly, 24, of Lynn stab one of the victims. As a result, Kelly was arrested and charged with Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (knife).
FIRST A CAB.. THEN.. A STORE
At about 3:02am, on Thursday, March 29, 2007, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a man refusing to pay a cab fare at the intersection of Stuart and Tremont Streets. On arrival, officers spoke to witnesses who stated that the individual refusing to pay the cab fare was standing inside the 7/11 convenience store. When officers entered the store, witnesses told officers that the individual in question had attempted to exit the store without paying for various items (a Red Bull beverage & a cheeseburger). Furthermore, witnesses state that when they attempted to stop the suspect, the suspect stated he had a gun and, then, made a gesture towards his waist. After a pat frisk of the suspect, no weapon was found. Officers then arrested Juan Martinez, 18, of Everett and charged him with Armed Robbery.
