DAILY INCIDENTS FOR MARCH 26, 2007

MY FRIEND TOLD ME TO DO ITAt about 2:54am, on Sunday, March 25, 2007, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a stolen car at 1 Joy Street. While on scene, officers observed a white female get into the stolen motor vehicle. Officers then activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. Officers then arrested Karen Hanson, 41, of Somerville and charged her with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle. According to Hanson, a friend told her the car was his. Hanson further told officers that the friend instructed her to pick up the car and then pick him up at the intersection of Park and Tremont Streets. After getting a description of suspect #2, officers then went to that location. Once there, officers observed an individual fitting the description provided by suspect #1 (Hanson). Officers then arrested Antonio Matos, 39, of New Hampshire and also charged him with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle.
ONE LESS GUN
At about 2:58pm, on Sunday, March 25, 2007, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) observed what appeared to be a drug transaction in the area of Ruggles Street in Roxbury. As officers approached the suspects, officers saw that one of the suspects was holding a hat in his hand. Officers further observed a plastic bag sticking out of the hat. Officers then arrested Aaron Stewart, 36, of Dorchester. While arresting the suspect, officers discovered that the suspect had a firearm in his left pocket. Officers recovered a loaded .25 caliber automatic firearm. Officers then charged Stewart with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition and Possession of Controlled Substance.
TWO ARRESTED FOR TAKING TIRES
At about 2:51am, on Monday, March 26, 2007, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) observed a van wanted in connection with an incident involving tires being stolen off of cars in Roslindale. Upon seeing the van, officers then activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) in order to stop the motor vehicle. After approaching the van, officers observed 2 motor vehicle tires sitting on the rear seat of the van. Officers also observed a car jack, as well as, a silver tire iron sitting on the floor of the van. Officers then arrested Cristopher Brito, 20, of Arlington and Edgardo Rodriquez, 21, of Roslindale and charged both with Larceny (Over $250.00). Officers then contacted the victim in order to tell them that their tires had been recovered and could be picked up at District B-3 (Mattpan).
