Armed Robbery Suspect Caught Returning to Scene of CrimeThis morning, Saturday, March 24, 2007 around 6:09am officers from District E-13 responded to 23 Armstrong St. in Jamaica Plain for a fight.
Officers spoke to the victim on arrival and determined that the victim was approached as he walked home by the suspect. Per victim, the suspect approached him, demanded money of him and stated that he had a gun. The victim told the suspect that he had no money at which time the suspect started yelling demanding money, and assaulting the victim by punching him repeatedly. The victim, during the assault, tried to get away when the suspect pulled out a knife and started swinging at the victim. The victim was stabbed several times during the assault before the suspect fled. As officers were interviewing the victim, they observed an individual running in their direction. The victim at that time yelled to officers that this was the suspect. The suspect refused officers’ commands, and had to be physically restrained to be handcuffed. Suspect, Luis E. Baez, 20, of Jamaica Plain was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Rob, and several counts of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
Five Suspects Arrested for Assaulting and Robbing Victim with “Lighter Gun”
About 4:04pm on Friday, March 23, 2007, officers from District B-2 arrested Jimmall D. Marshall, 17, of Roxbury, Dashawn Matthews, 17, of Quincy, Lynden I. Scott, 17, of Roxbury, Kevin Crutchfield, 19, of Roxbury, and 15-year-old female juvenile from Roxbury and charged them with Armed Robbery and Assault and Battery resulting in injuries.
Officers from District B-2 responded to 115 Warren St./Boys and Girls Club for a robbery involving a firearm. On arrival officers located the victim who had fled his attackers and sought refuge in the Boys and Girls Club. Officers spoke to the victim who was visibly shaken and had suffered numerous cuts, scratches, bruises and bumps from being assaulted.
The victim reported to officers that he was walking on Dudley St. when he saw the female suspect who is known to him. The victim reported that he chided the female juvenile for not speaking to him, and playfully bumped into her. According to the victim, and other witnesses, the female juvenile suspect accidentally tripped and fell. The juvenile suspect then became angry and hailed the other suspects who happened to be across the street. The suspects then approached the victim and lured him down the street, telling him that he would not be attacked. Once down the street, the suspects punched and assaulted the victim, demanded his I-Pod and threatened him with a gun before he fled to the Boys and Girls Club.
Officers, while at the Boys and Girls Club, spoke with the juvenile suspect who had come there with her mother. The victim admitted to hailing the group of suspects, and also admitted to witnessing the assault.
A description of the suspects was broadcast and a short while later a group located matching the suspects’ description. Those individuals were subsequently positively identified and arrested. They will be arraigned at Roxbury District Court on Monday, March 26, 2007.
Stabbing Suspect Arrested “Sitting Pretty” at Bench
About 1:50pm today, March 24, 2007, officers from District D-4 responded to the intersection of Commonwealth Ave. and Dartmouth St. for a person stabbed. There, officers located the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds, and he was transported to Brigham and Women’s Hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers spoke to witnesses and determined that the suspect approached and attacked the victim while he was sitting on a park bench after exclaiming, “This is what you get for disrespecting me!” Per witnesses, the suspect placed the knife back in his pocket after stabbing the victim and walked away heading toward Copley Square on Dartmouth Street.
A description of the suspect was broadcast, and a short while later an officer performing a detail at the Copley Mall found the suspect sitting on a bench at the intersection of Dartmouth St. and Stuart St. The suspect was detained and positively identified by all witnesses. The suspect, Crozet Mains, 33, of Boston was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault with Intent to Murder. The suspect will be arraigned at Boston Municipal Court on Monday.
