MISSING SAILOR LOCATED

On Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at approximately 12:15pm, members of the Boston Police Harbor Unit, the Boston Fire Department and the United States Coast Guard executed a search effort in Boston Harbor. As a result of that search, divers discovered a body in the area of 244 Atlantic Avenue. It has been determined to be the body of missing sailor, Dustin Willis, 26, of Virginia.The United States Navy has notified family members of Petty Officer Third Class Dustin Willis, a crewmember on the USS Donald Cook. Mr. Willis was reported missing on Saturday, March 17, 2007, when he failed to return to the ship for duty.
Police Commissioner Ed Davis stated, “On behalf of the Boston Police Department, I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to Dustin’s family, Navy Commander John Esposito (Commanding Officer of the USS Donald Cook) and Dustin’s fellow crewmembers. I would also like to extend our appreciation to the Boston Fire Department and the United States Coast Guard for their assistance. Lastly, I would like to commend the Boston Police District C-6 detectives for their tireless efforts in locating Dustin.”
