No Respect for the CourtYesterday around 3:10pm, a Boston Police officer in traffic passing Roxbury District Court/85 Warren Street observed an individual yelling at three other individuals. As the officer continued to observe this exchange, the individual yelling retrieved a large knife from inside his jacket and started approaching the three other males in a threatening manner. The officer then quickly exited his cruiser and ordered the suspect to drop the knife. The suspect ignored the officer’s commands continuing to approach the victims wielding the knife in the direction of the victims. The officer, fearing the suspect was going to stab the victims, retrieved his department issued firearm and ordered the suspect to the ground. The suspect hesitated for some time, continuing to approach the victims, until he was only a couple feet from the victims. The officer gave verbal commands to the suspect while wielding his firearm and finally the suspect dropped the knife. Suspect, Brandon D. Johnson, 18, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with several counts of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
Traffic Stop Leads to Drugs
About 4:55pm yesterday, officers from District 7 observed a motor vehicle fail to stop for a red light at Saratoga St. and Morse St. The operator quickly pulled over and attempted to walk away before officers could conduct a traffic stop. Officers stopped the operator before he could walk away and requested of him his license and registration. The operator was evasive and nervous in his answers. Further investigation revealed to officers that the operator’s license was suspended, and the car was uninsured. Suspect was arrested for the above offenses, and transported to the District 7 for booking. After being placed under arrest the suspect was found to be in possession of several tablets believed to be Percocet, and a foil packet containing white powder believed to be cocaine. Suspect, Paul A. Carlton, 31, of Chelsea was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, and Possession of Class B.
Officers Get More Than They Bargained For From Shoplifter
Last night around 9:00pm, an officer performing a paid detail at Marshall’s located at 8 Allstate Rd. in Dorchester observed an individual concealing merchandise in his clothing. That individual was stopped after exiting the store and found to have shoplifted a number of items from the store. Suspect, Michael J. Devine, 25, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Shoplifting. During a search of the suspect incident arrest, officers located drug paraphernalia, and several glass vials containing Crystal Methamphetamine. The suspect was subsequently charged with Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute.
Wild Night Results in Violent Fracas Outside Club
This morning around 2:27am, officers from District 1 observed a group of males engaged in a heated verbal exchange at the intersection of Tremont St. and Winter St.
The officer exited his marked cruiser and ordered the group to disperse. One member of the group refused to disperse, approached the officer, threatened him and attempted to assault him. The officer requested additional units and attempted to place this individual under arrest for the assault. While officers were attempting to place the first individual in custody, the remaining members of the group returned, approached officers from behind and attempted to assault officers and release the first suspect from custody. Numerous units responded as officers struggled with the group, and attempted to place the other members of the group under arrest. Members of the group violently fought with officers in an attempt to avoid arrest and aid in the escape of the arrested individuals.
The fracas went on for some time with several officers sustaining injuries and having to make use of their issued O.C. spray.
As a result of this incident officers arrested the below noted suspects and charged them with the following:
1. Alexander M. Ramos, 22, of Dorchester and charged him with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Resisting Arrest, and Disorderly Conduct.
2. Luis A. Ramos, 23, of Dorchester and charged him with Disorderly Conduct, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Aiding Escape from Lawful Custody.
3. Stefan N. Reed, 20, of Dorchester and charged him with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Aiding Escape from Lawful Custody.
4. Mariano Serrano, 23, of Dorchester and charged him with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Aiding Escape from Lawful Custody, and Disorderly Conduct.
5. Manuel A. Baez, 25, of Dorchester and charged him with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Aiding Escape from Lawful Custody, and Disorderly Conduct.
6. Alex Rodriguez, 23, of Dorchester and charged him Disorderly Conduct, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Aiding Escape from Lawful Custody.
