This car initially attracted officers’ because occupants were yelling and gesturing at officers as they passed and continued driving while committing several violations. Officers followed and attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the suspect motor vehicle failed to stop for officers, and continued getting onto the ramp at Albany St. for Route 93S. There, the operator stopped in the middle of the ramp and immediately became hostile upon being asked for license and registration telling officers “You have no …right to pull us over, regular police can’t stop us on the highway, I know my rights, I’m in Harvard law School!” The operator, Roger DePina, 25, of North Dartmouth was arrested and charged with Refusal to Stop for Police and Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The passenger, Michael DePina, 21, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, and Disorderly Conduct after he refused to get out of the middle of the ramp, and assaulted officers when they attempted to escort him out of the way of oncoming traffic.
Two Suspects Arrested for Disorderly Conduct
About 4:30pm yesterday, “walking beat” officers from District 11 working in the Codman Square area observed a group blocking the sidewalk, using profane language, and yelling obscenities. There were numerous elderly individuals, and children in the area subjected to their loud, raucous and disruptive behavior. Officers asked the group to disperse and clear the sidewalk as individuals were being forced to walk into traffic to travel to their destination. Two individuals from the group continued to be loud and shouted obscenities at officers after being told to clear the sidewalk. Those two individuals crossed to the other side of the street and continued to create a disturbance by blocking the sidewalk, yelling obscenities causing passersby to stop, and causing individuals at a nearby bus stop to leave rather than be subjected to the profane and obscene language being used by the two. Officers actively attempted to move the two but they refused stating to officers “We own the streets. We are not leaving!” Officers arrested Damal Jackson, 19, and Gary Johnson, 17, of Dorchester and charged them with Disorderly Conduct.
Drugs Recovered from Fleeing Suspect During Traffic Stop
This morning around 2:04am, officers from District 2 arrested suspect, Ashton Ross, 20, of Roxbury and charged him with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D, Second and Subsequent Offense, Resisting Arrest, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer and several warrants for Forgery, Resisting Arrest, and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon.
Officers conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle at the intersection of Dudley St. and Columbia Rd. after having observed the motor vehicle drive past them at a high rate of speed. During the traffic stop, officers observed the passenger making furtive movements. The passenger when questioned by officers was evasive and elusive with answers and insisted on keeping his hands out of sight. Officers asked the passenger to exit the motor for further investigation and while exiting he assaulted an officer and fled. A foot chase ensued during which the suspect was observed throwing a large bag. Officers successfully apprehended the suspect and recovered the discarded bag that contained more than 40 bags of marijuana. During the booking search, officers recovered several additional bags of marijuana from the suspect. The driver was cited for Speeding.
