Breaking and Entering Suspect Captured in East BostonAbout 6:41pm, officers from District 7 responded to 593 Bennington St. in East Boston for a breaking and entering in progress. There, officers spoke to the victim, who stated that she came home and found the suspect in her house. According to the victim, the suspect fled the apartment when he saw her. The victim provided officers with a suspect description. Shortly thereafter, responding officers observed an individual matching the description fleeing the scene. A lengthy foot chase ensued and officers were able to soon apprehend the suspect.
Officers recovered a number of items stolen from the victim’s apartment as well as other stolen items after arresting the suspect. Officers recovered and seized jewelry, credit cards and US and Canadian currency. Officers returned to the victim\’s house and observed it to have been ransacked by the suspect. Suspect, Dino DiBenedetto, 26, of East Boston was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering, Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Larceny Over $250.00, and Receiving Stolen Property.
Two Arrested in East Boston, Knife Recovered
On December 18, 2006, at about 12:01 am, officers were performing Operation Safe Neighborhood in the Eagle Hill area of East Boston. Officers were patrolling Eutaw St. when they observed two white males, who are both known to police, sitting in a motor vehicle not owned by either party. Officers observed the one suspect throw a long silver colored item onto the sidewalk next to the vehicle after observing the police. Officers exited the patrol car to investigate the item thrown. Officers found that the object was a long knife with jagged edges. Suspect, Jeffrey Jackimocz, 17, of East Boston was placed under arrest for violating a city ordinance 16/45.1 prohibiting anyone from carrying a knife over 2 ½ inches long.
While placing Jackimocz into custody the officers observed that the second male had walked away. The second suspect attempted to evade police by hiding under a MV. Police located the suspect, who immediately became combative. Officers attempted to calm the suspect down, but were unsuccessful. Subsequently 19-year-old, Michael Castiello of East Boston was arrested for disorderly person.
