Suspect Arrested After Attempted Kidnapping on Boylston StreetOn Saturday afternoon at about 5:07pm an officer walking on Boylston Street heard people yelling in front of 587 Boylston Street. As the officer approached the area, an individual came running toward the officer stating that his 10-year-old son was standing in front of the CVS when an unknown black male approached him from behind and put his jacket around the boy and tried to forcibly walk him down the street. The boy began to yell for his father who observed this and rescued his son by pulling him away from the suspect. The officer located the suspect at Boylston and Clarendon Street and placed him under arrest. David Johnson, 39, of Boston was placed under arrest and charged with Assault and Battery and Attempting to Commit a Crime (Kidnapping). He will be arraigned on Monday morning.
Suspect on Robbery Spree in Back Bay
Last night at 5:22pm, officers from District 4 responded to a robbery at the St. Francis Chapel located at 800 Boylston Street. On arrival the officers spoke with the Priest who stated a male armed with an 8 inch hunting knife ordered the Priest to empty the cash register. The victim fled not giving anything to the suspect, and the suspect then fled through the Sheraton lobby. Police were the notified that a suspect matching the description of the suspect from the chapel robbed the Boston Flower Shop at 225 Massachusetts Avenue of U.S. Currency. The suspect described as a white hispanic male, wearing a baseball hat, green sweatshirt and blue jeans fled toward St. Stephen’s Street. Detectives continue to investigate these incidents.
Loaded Firearm Recovered from Suspect on Evans Street in Dorchester
Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force observed a male walking from the area of Crowell Street last night at about 6:30pm. When the suspect observed the officers he made a complete turn and continued walking away from the officers. Officers stopped Jean-Louis Tyriquw, 17, of Dorchester and conducted a threshold inquiry. Officers discovered a loaded firearm in the suspect’s waistband area. Police arrested Tyriquw and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm. He will be arraigned in the Dorchester District Court.
Male Arrested Outside South Street Diner
This morning at about 12:19am, officers from District 1 responded to the South Street Diner on a report of a vandalism in progress at 178 Kneeland Street. On arrival the officers spoke with witnesses who stated that a male was knocking down newspaper boxes, kicking objects in the street, and then break the window of the diner by punching it. Police stopped Johnny Kinney, 19, of Brockton a block away and transported him back to the diner where he was positively identified. He was placed under arrest and charged with Malicious Destruction of Property. He will be arraigned in the Boston Municipal Court.
Officer Assaulted on Columbus Avenue
After responding to Columbus Ave and Dartmouth Street this morning at about 2:00am, officers observed a fight between two males in front of Cleary’s Bar. Officers were successful in separating the two people. One officer was trying to subdue one suspect when the suspect began punching the officer in the face. The uniformed officer was struck on the right side of his face and sustained a head injury by way of a cut on the rear of his head and right ear. The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to District 4. During a booking search a bag of marijuana was found on the suspect. Dwayne Jenkins, 35, of Hyde Park, was charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer (injuries), Resisting Arrest, Affray, Disturbing the Peace, Disorderly Conduct, and Possession Class D. He will be arraigned in the Boston Municipal Court.
Three Arrested in Roxbury with Loaded Gun and Drugs
Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force on directed patrol in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and West Cottage Street observed three males this morning at about 2:15am acting suspicious. The officers conducted surveillance and ultimately arrested three individuals at 5 Brookford Street. Police recovered a loaded firearm as well as a medium size rock of crack cocaine. Police arrested Christian White, 27, of Dorchester and charged him with: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Subsequent Offense), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Carrying of a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way as well as Armed Career Criminal Level 3, Distribution Class B and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B. Robert Heckstall, 23, of Roxbury was charged with: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Carrying of a Loaded Firearm as well as Armed Career Criminal Level 1. Ernest Jenkins, 26, of Roxbury, was charged with Possession of Class B. All three will be arraigned in the Roxbury District Court.
