On December 4, 2006 at 5:20pm, the Boston Housing Police and Boston Police officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at 20 Prescott Street in Roxbury. As a result of that stop, the vehicle was seized and a search warrant was obtained. The search warrant resulted in the recovery of two firearms and a quantity of crack cocaine.Today the operator of that vehicle, Jerome Brody, 19, of Everett was arrested by members of the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force for an outstanding warrant; charging him with two counts Possession of a Firearm and Distribution of Class B.
A subsequent investigation into the recovered firearms revealed that both weapons matched ballistics evidence recovered during the Jahmol Norfleet homicide investigation.
Deputy Superintendent of Homicide, Daniel Coleman stated, “This information is merely an investigative development. The Norfleet investigation remains active and ongoing. We ask the public to refrain from speculation as we continue to follow the evidence with an objective and methodical approach.” Deputy Coleman added, “Our responsibility is to follow the evidence and be guided by sound, investigative decision-making.”
Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis commented, “I am very pleased with the work of all of the officers and units involved including the Boston Housing Police, BPD officers, BPD District 2 detectives, BPD homicide investigators and members of the Youth Violence Strike Force for their ongoing dedication and excellent work. I would also like to commend our Latent Print staff the Ballistics Unit for their tremendous work related to the recovered evidence.”
Today Commissioner Davis and members of the Boston Police command staff had a meeting with community members and local clergy to provide an update on the most recent developments. Boston Police will remain steadfast in the commitment to decrease violence in city neighborhoods, while working closely with our community partners to spread a message of zero tolerance. The homicide unit will continue to actively investigate this case.
The homicide of Jahmol Norfleet occurred on November 28, 2006. At 7:26pm, officers from District 2 responded to 56 Holworthy Street for a report of a person shot. Police located two individuals suffering from gun shot wounds. One victim has been pronounced and the second victim suffered non-life threatening injuries. The victim has been identified as Jahmol A. Norfleet, 20, of Roxbury.
