Police Arrest Four For Tagging in Two City Neighborhoods

Officers assigned to District 13 patrolling yesterday morning at about 2:39am, observed two suspects standing in the intersection of Centre Street and Starr Lane in Jamaica Plain with spray canisters in their hands. When the suspects observed the officers they fled on foot with the officers chasing them. Officers caught the suspects in a rear yard on Starr Lane where they admitted to police they were drinking. The owner of the property exited his house and told officers he did not know these people and wanted them off his property. Officers recovered two cans of spray paint and beer from the suspects. Other officers from District 13 located over 12 properties’ that were damaged by the suspects spray paint. Police arrested John Seager, and Jacob Schlang, both 21, and from Jamaica Plain for Trespassing, Resisting Arrest, Drinking in Public and Damage to Property by Graffiti/ Tagging. They will be arraigned in the West Roxbury District Court.This morning at about 1:00am, on the other side of the City, officers from District 14 responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of Lincoln and Franklin Streets in Allston. The officers observed two males, dressed in black, running from the area. The officers chased the suspects and were able to stop them at Linden and Pratt Streets. The officer’s pat frisked the suspects as well as checking a backpack that one was carrying. Officers recovered three cans of spray paint from the suspects. Further information lead officers under the Cambridge Street Bridge where they observed two fresh painting on a Massachusetts Turnpike wall. Both suspects were placed under arrest and charged with Damage to Property by Graffiti/ Tagging. Both Nicholas Sawaya, 23, of Allston and Jaimen Shinn, 21, Bronx, NY will be arraigned Monday morning in the Brighton District Court.
