Suspect Arrested in Possession of a FirearmYesterday around 7:10pm, officers from the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force on patrol in the area of 3 Fairland St. in Roxbury arrested suspect, Lamont Jones, 21, of Malden and charged him with Trespassing, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
Due to increased violence in the area of Mt. Pleasant St. and Fairland St. officers stopped the suspect for further investigation. The suspect attempted to elude officers as they approached by trying to go into a locked building’s front entrance. During conversation with the suspect, he continuously attempted to conceal his front waistband which had a bulge consistent with a firearm and appeared to be very nervous. Officers after making observation of this suspect’s actions conducted a pat frisk that confirmed their suspicions and the suspect was found to be in possession of a firearm.
Suspect Arrested with Firearm During “Routine” Traffic Stop
At approximately 12:15am today officers from District 4 conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Boylston St. and Massachusetts Ave. after observing the operator commit a motor vehicle infraction. During the traffic stop, officers observed an open container of alcohol in the car despite the fact that neither occupant was of legal age to possess alcohol. Further investigation of the motor vehicle and its occupants revealed the passenger to be in possession a loaded firearm.
Passenger, Nicholas F. Otey, 19, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated/Defaced serial Number. The operator, Jovunnie Rivera, 20, of Cambridge was arrested and charged with being a Minor in Possession of Alcohol.
Three Suspects Arrested and Charged with Four Different Armed Robberies
Yesterday around 10pm officers from District 4 responded to the area of Commonwealth Ave. for several reported armed robbery calls. A description of the motor vehicle, the occupants of the car and a direction of flight was broadcast. Officers in the area observed a motor vehicle matching the suspect motor vehicle at the intersection of Hemenway St. and Museum Rd. and there conducted a traffic stop.
On initial approach officers observed a baseball bat, and a pink pocket book, credit cards, and a wallet all in plain view in the car. The suspects were removed from the car and detained while officers further investigated these armed robbery calls. Officers received more detailed information and discovered the detained suspects\’ description to match those given by the victims of the armed robberies.
The four victims of the robberies subsequently positively identified the three suspects and their car as well as the items that were found in their possession as belonging to them. The suspects during their crime spree robbed four victims and assaulted them, breaking one victim\’s arm by assaulting him with a baseball bat.
The three suspects, Paul R. Donahoe, 22, Jason A. Arias, 20, and Deandre D. Zollarcoffer, 18, of Dorchester were arrested and charged with several counts of Armed Robbery and Unarmed Robbery.
