Sex Offender Arrested After Assaulting WorkersLast night at about 9:30pm, officers assigned to District 3 responded to a radio call for an n assault and battery in progress at Norfolk Street and Mildred Avenue in Mattapan. On arrival the officers spoke with two victims who stated they were painting crosswalks on the street when Steven Gilbert, 49, of Mattapan began punching them both in the face. Both victims sustained minor injuries and were able to hold the suspect until police arrived. The officers determined that the suspect was wanted out of the Dorchester District Court on a warrant for Assault and Battery and had failed to register as a Sex Offender. Gilbert will be arraigned in the Dorchester District Court this morning and will also be charged with two counts of Assault and Battery.
Allston Resident Assaulted after Hitch Hiking in Brighton
Officers from District 14 responded to a call last night at 8:08pm for a person stabbed at Colburne Street and Monastery Road. Officers discovered a 23-year-old Allston resident who reported to police that he was “hitching” a ride on Commonwealth Avenue when a tan colored minivan occupied by three black males picked him up. The three suspects proceeded to place a knife to the victim’s throat and attempt to rob him. The victim reports he was able to escape from the moving van when it slowed down. The victim sustained a stab wound to the chin and scrapes and cuts from jumping out of the moving vehicle. The suspects fled on Monastery Road. No items were taken from the victim.
Happy Hour Interrupted in West Roxbury
Yesterday afternoon at about 3:51pm, officers from District 5 while patrolling the Washington Street area observed two males sitting on the stairs of 5215 Washington Street drinking from two 40 ounce Budweiser bottles. Police arrested Richard Dimartino, 35, of West Roxbury and John Greenwell, 33, of Hyde Park and charged them with Public Drinking. Both will be arraigned in the West Roxbury Court this morning.
Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Marijuana and Crack Arrest
Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force patrolling in the Dorchester neighborhood last night at about 9:28pm observed a motor vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Downer Avenue and Pleasant Street. The officers stopped the vehicle and the driver climbed from the drivers seat to a rear seat in the vehicle. The suspect, Stephen Brewington, 18, of Dorchester was arrested for Operating without a License as well as other violations of the auto laws. Brewington was also found to be in possession of marijuana and crack cocaine. He will be arraigned this morning in the Dorchester District Court and charged with Possession Class B, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B within 1000’ of a School Zone as well as Possession Class D, Possession Class D with Intent to Distribute, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D within 1000’ of a School Zone.
Suspect Arrested After B&E on Construction Site in Roxbury
This morning at 2:22am officers from District 2 responded to a report of a male breaking into a car at the construction lot at 58 Geneva Avenue in Roxbury. On arrival officers spoke with a witness who stated that a male broke into a utility van. A description of the suspect was broadcasted over police radios and officers stopped an individual fitting the description on Normandy Street. After being positively identified by witnesses, police arrested Leonardo Blanco, 42, of Boston and charged him with Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and Destruction of Property. He will be arraigned this morning in Roxbury District Court.
