Motor Vehicle Accident- 642 Harvard St. Mattapan

At approximately 4pm, while conducting an investigation, members of the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force observed a person known to have outstanding warrants. After stopping the suspect in a motor vehicle on American Legion Highway, the suspect fled the scene in the motor vehicle. Police lost contact with the suspects vehicle and discovered the vehicle flipped on its side after striking a parked motor vehicle at 642 Harvard Street. After crashing the motor vehicle the suspect fled on foot, forced his way into a vacant house, then fled the house and a foot pursuit ensued. The suspect was arrested at 19 Gilmer Street and taken to Boston Medical Center for injuries sustained during the motor vehicle crash. A police officer injured his knee during the foot pursuit. The suspect, Byron Jones, 26, was wanted on warrants out of Roxbury District Court for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon & Dorchester District Court for Violation of Auto Laws. He will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court tomorrow.
