Video Monitoring Helps Net Two ArrestsOfficers in District 2 responded to a radio call last night for a Breaking and Entering at 1464 Tremont Street, an apartment building that has had multiple break-ins in the past. The owner of the building had installed a video surveillance system and noticed two suspects breaking into the building. When officers arrived on scene, they arrested the two suspects. Pedro Garcia, 31, and Arturo Miranda, 46, both of Dorchester, will be charged with Attempted Breaking and Entering.
Drug Arrest in East Boston
Officers assigned to the District 7 Drug Control Unit were in the area of Putnam and Tremont Streets last night at around 7:00pm when they observed a vehicle traveling at high speed before pulling over at 53 Putnam Street. The officers observed the suspect as he exited the vehicle and hurried inside the residence, where he reappeared a minute later. He returned to his vehicle and sped away. The officers conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle where they noticed the suspect acting nervously. After a pat frisk, the officers found a plastic bag of cocaine in the suspect’s pocket. The suspect, Oscar Betancur, 21, of East Boston, was arrested and charged with Trafficking Class B, Cocaine as well as Trafficking Within 100 Feet of a Park. He also received an array of traffic citations as well.
Being Royal Means Nothing to the Police
Last night at 9:15pm, officers on patrol on Hendry Street in Dorchester observed a black male take notice of their unmarked police cruiser and flee in the opposite direction. He went into a vacant residential area where he was apprehended. The officers, believing he had discarded a weapon, searched the residence and found a firearm and ammunition lying on the ground. Daniel Royal, 24, of Dorchester, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition.
Hit and Run Leads to Gun Arrest
Officers responded to a radio call by an EMS Deputy who witnessed a hit and run on Blue Hill Avenue last night at approximately 11:15pm. The deputy followed the suspect vehicle until police arrived at the scene. Officers conducted a threshold inquiry of the suspect, Kenneth Harris, a 23-year-old from Dorchester, who gave the officers a Massachusetts Learners Permit. During a search of Harris’s motor vehicle, officers recovered a handgun and ammunition. Harris was arrested and charged with Operating Without Being Licensed and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition.
Juveniles Steal Cars, Then Strip Them
Officers from District 5 responded to a radio call last night at 11:20pm at Arboretum Road for two males trying to set cars on fire. The officers observed the two suspects and stopped to conduct a threshold inquiry. The two suspects fit the descriptions that were given during the radio call. After finding the two vehicles that the suspects were seen with, a police check revealed both vehicles were stolen. The vehicles had an assortment of damages, including missing doors, fenders, and radios along with a popped ignition. Both suspects, two juveniles from Roslindale, were arrested and charged with Delinquent to Wit: Possession of Burglarious Tools and Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle.
Trespasser Arrested for Possessing Gun
While on patrol early this morning, officers from District 11 observed a black male trespassing at a residence on Geneva Avenue. When officers attempted to talk to the suspect, he fled the area, dropping a brown paper bag along the way. After he was apprehended, he was placed under arrest for trespassing. The bag he threw, which contained a firearm and some ammunition, was recovered. The suspect, Sean Derick Pinckney, 24, of Dorchester, was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, as well as Trespassing.
