Chemical Spill Results in Building EvacuationDistrict 4 officers were called to 774 Albany Street at 7:50pm last night on a report of a chemical spill. The building, a homeless shelter, was evacuated as a safety precaution while the Boston Fire Department and the Boston Police Hazardous Materials Unit investigated. A cleaning chemical was located improperly disposed in a dumpster behind the building. One person was taken to Boston Medical Center after falling ill from fumes. The 200 evacuees were put on MBTA buses to keep warm while the building was cleaned and were allowed re-entry at about 10:15pm. The Department of Environmental Protection responded and issued a notice of responsibility to BU Medical Center.
Juvenile Male Shot in Jamaica Plain
Officers in District 13 responded to 290 Centre Street for a person shot. A sixteen-year-old juvenile male was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The incident remains under investigation.
Celtics Fan Arrested for Foul Language
Officers working at the TD Banknorth Garden last night were called to the balcony section for a disturbance. When they arrived they found 19-year-old Travis Lowe of Plymouth using obscene language, yelling and screaming with several small children present. After being asked several times to quiet down, Lowe kept up his foul mouth antics and was arrested. The Celtics lost to LA 105-97.
Crystal Meth and Cash Seized in Dorchester Drug Bust
Members of the District 11 Drug Unit executed a search warrant at 10:35pm last night at 23 Juliette Street. Seized pursuant to the warrant were amounts of Crystal Meth, a small amount of Cocaine and scales used to weigh narcotics. Officers also seized over $20,000 cash from a bedroom closet. Gary Anderson, 39, was arrested in connection with the seizure and will be in court today.
