Officers at Stuart and Tremont Streets observed a car parked illegally last night at around 9:00pm. When the officers attempted to approach the vehicle for a threshold inquiry, the vehicle sped off, failing to stop for red lights and driving the wrong way down one-way streets. The vehicle finally stopped on West Newton Street and the driver fled the vehicle. After a brief violent struggle, the suspect was handcuffed. Further investigation revealed that the license plate on the vehicle was reported stolen on March 3, 2006. The vehicle also contained several plastic bags of cocaine and heroin.The driver of the vehicle, Hipolito Cruz, 36, of Boston was arrested for Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Buying, Receiving or Concealing Stolen Goods, Destruction or Injury of Personal Property, Possession of Class A and Class B Drugs and Possession of Class A and Class B Drugs With Intent to Distribute Within 1000 Feet of a School Zone. The three other passengers in the car were also arrested for Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle: Felicia Young, 32, Craig Thomson, 41, and a juvenile, all from Boston.
