Boston Police Incidents for January 23, 2006

Cambridge Man Arrested in Brighton Break-InAt 8:25am on Sunday morning officers from District 14 responded to 14 Ashford Street for a breaking and entering in progress. Officers received a description of the suspect and immediately began searching the area. Officers spotted 48-year-old Jose Barcelos walking on Commonwealth Ave. matching the suspect description. Barcelos was stopped, identified by witnesses and arrested. A laptop computer taken during the break-in was recovered.
Drugs and Ammo Recovered in Dorchester Apartment, 5 Arrested
Members of the District 2 Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant yesterday morning at 614 Dudley Street. Seized pursuant to the warrant were seven plastic bags of marijuana along with a box of plastic bags and a scale used to package and sell the drug. Officers also recovered three large capacity magazines and 179 rounds of ammunition. Arrested in connection with the search were: Edwin Lopez, 28, Zelina Lopez, 24, Anna Lopez, 43, Jorge Gonzales, 38, all of Dorchester, and Courtney Hamilton, 26 of Roxbury. All will be arraigned today in Roxbury District Court.
Group Attempts to Steal Beer After Hours
At 3:10am this morning a group of males and one female entered the convenience store at 464 Hanover Street and attempted to purchase alcohol. They were informed that alcohol was not sold after 11pm. Upset by the news, one of the males smashed a glass door, took out some beer, dropped the beer and fled the store. A search of the area was made to no avail. District 1 detectives continue to investigate.
Pair Arrested After Throwing Gun Out Window
This morning around 6:30am officers from District 2 along with Parole Officers went to 40 Wayland Street, Dorchester to serve a parole violation warrant on Daryl Diamond, 22 of Dorchester. After securing the perimeter of the dwelling, officers heard a window open and an object hit the ground. After making a peaceful entry, officers arrested Diamond and 21-year-old Jasscenia Ortiz of Roxbury who was inside with Diamond at the time. A large plastic bag of crack cocaine was recovered from inside the apartment and officers recovered a loaded Jennings 9mm firearm on the ground below an open third floor window. A search warrant will be executed on the apartment later today.
