Dorchester Man Shot in LegAbout 10:30pm, January 11, 2006, officers from District 11 responded to the Boston Medical Center to meet the victim of a shooting. The victim, a 31-year-old male, stated to officers that he was walking on E. Cottage Street near Pleasant Street and was shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital by a friend and was unable to offer any additional information. His injuries are considered non-life threatening and the investigation continues.
Cruiser Accident Sends Three to Hospital
About 1:37am, January 12, 2006, officers from District 13 were involved in an accident while transporting a female prisoner on the Jamaica Way. The crash happened after 24-year-old Daniel Murphy of Roslindale attempted to pass a vehicle driving on the Jamaica Way. Murphy’s 2001 Jeep Wrangler hit the vehicle he was attempting to pass forcing it off to the side of the road. He then crossed the double yellow line and struck a Police Wagon traveling in the opposite direction. Both officers and the female prisoner were taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital for minor injuries. Murphy was cited for Reckless Operation and Failure to Stay within Marked Lanes.
Male Found Shot on Mattapan Street
About 1:50am, January 12, 2006, officers from District 18 responded to 48 Mattakeeset Street for a man shot. An unidentified male was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Boston Medical Center and is expected to survive. This incident remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.
Good Samaritan Helps Store Clerk After Assault
About 4am, January 12, 2006, officers from District 1 responded to the 7-11 convenience store at 70 E. India Row for an assault in progress. According to the victim, a 40-50 year old black male, wearing black pants and a gray sweatshirt, entered the store went behind the counter and struck the victim in the head with a brick. The suspect grabbed some cigarettes and alcohol while the victim went outside for help. A pedestrian walking past stopped, and after being told of the incident went into the store and told the suspect to drop the items and leave. The suspect complied and fled the store on foot. The victim refused medical attention.
Charlestown Barber Shop Broken Into
The barbers at the Bunker Hill Barber shop located at 26 Common Street in Charlestown reported an unknown person(s) entered the barbershop and stole an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency as well as scissors and clippers. The suspect committed this crime between 9pm on January 10th and noon yesterday. Detectives from District 1 are investigating the incident.
Two Arrested in Chinatown After Fight
Last night officers from District 1 arrested Fidel Hernandes, 38, and Ramiro Figueroa, 50 after the two were sharing a 40 oz beer at 70 Beach Street. After being asked to discard the bottle, the two suspects began slapping and punching each other. Both were transported to District 1 and will be arraigned today charged with Affray and Drinking in Public.
Traffic Violation Leads to Drug Trafficking Arrest
A resident of Roslindale operating a 1995 Dodge was observed by officers in District 7 committing a violation of the auto laws last night at 5:50pm. When the officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at 47 Meridian Street, Dana Domino, 32, of Dorchester was found to be in possession of marijuana and crack cocaine. He was walked into District 7 and booked for Trafficking Class B, Possession of Class D and a warrant out of East Boston Court.
