At 11:49am, officers from District 3 responded to 9 Moody Street in Dorchester for a report of an alarm. As they arrived on the scene, officers saw a female chasing a male out of the house. The male was carrying a large white bag in one hand and a box in the other. The officers were told that the running suspect had just broken into the house and stolen Christmas gifts from under the tree. Officers gave chase over three fences in the rear yards of homes on Armandine Street before capturing the scrooge as he attempted to hurtle a fourth fence. The suspect, 22-year-old Gerald Ellison of Boston was in the possession of four wrapped gifts and one unwrapped MP3 player in the sleeve of his jacket. Ellison was taken back the scene, positively identified by the victim and placed under arrest. According to the victim, a side window on her house was forced open and most of the presents under her tree had been opened. Ellison is charged with Breaking and Entering in the Daytime, Resisting Arrest, Trespassing and Receiving Stolen Property. He faces arraignment in Dorchester District Court. The stolen items, including an XBOX video game system, DVD’s and video games, were returned to the victim.
