Dorchester Probation Officers Honored for Efforts

Commissioner Kathleen M. O’Toole presented seven Probation Officers from Dorchester District Court, with plaques today. The officers, members of the Youthful Offender Unit, were recognized for their behind the scenes efforts in ending gun violence in the City of Boston. Those honored today at Boston Police Headquarters included Assistant Chief Probation Officer Wilfred Morrison and Probation Officers Graham Bengen, Michael Branch, Leon Graves, Trina Higgins, James President, Thomas Todd and Lynne Thomas.
Youthful Offender Unit members deal mostly with “impact players” as identified by the courts and the police. It was during home visits to probationers that guns were discovered and the police notified. “While Probation does not get as much public attention, we realize the value of your work.” Commissioner O’Toole told the honorees at today’s event.
Both Commissioner O’Toole and Probation Service Commissioner John J. O’Brien credit the collaboration between probation and the police department as a vital component to ensure public safety.
