At 1700hrs this evening, an off-duty Boston Police Officer in the area of Evelyn Street in Mattapan, observed two armed suspects shooting firearms at one another. The Police Officer confronted one of the suspects who pointed his firearm at the Officer. The Police Officer discharged his weapon striking the suspect. The armed suspect was transported by Boston EMS to the Boston Medical Center where he is being treated for a non-life threatening injury. The Police Officer has also been transported to a local Hospital for stress related injuries. This incident remains under investigation.
