At about 1:42 AM on Saturday, October 31, 2026, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old male in the area of 123 Hancock Street in Dorchester.
While on patrol in the area of Columbia Road, officers observed a motor vehicle operating with no headlights on. Officers activated their emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop in the area of the aforementioned location. Officers approached the vehicle and notified the operator of the reason as to why the vehicle had been stopped. Officers requested the operator’s identification, which he was unable to provide. Officers were able to verify the operator’s identity and continued speaking with the occupants of the vehicle (operator, front passenger, and two rear passengers).
While speaking with the occupants, officers observed a fanny pack on the floor near the front passenger’s feet, and as additional units arrived on scene, officers observed the occupants become increasingly uncomfortable. Officers began removing the occupants from the vehicle starting with the front passenger. While removing the front passenger, officers observed the rear female passenger fidgeting with both hands underneath the front passenger’s seat. The rear passenger was then removed from the vehicle. At this time, the operator exited the vehicle without provocation, and was subsequently found to be in possession of a knife, which officers located in his rear pants pocket. Finally, the last occupant, the second rear passenger was removed from the vehicle.
Officers subsequently located a firearm underneath the driver’s seat. All of the occupants were then detained as officers continued their investigation. Officers arrested the second rear passenger who was seated behind the driver’s seat.
The firearm was determined to be a Glock 43 handgun loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition and a flashlight attachment.
The 17-year-old suspect, of Roxbury, is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Delinquent to wit; Carrying a Loaded Firearm without as License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.
The operator was issued a Massachusetts uniform citation of violating the auto laws.
The remaining occupants were identified and released from the scene.
