At approximately 12:13 AM on Friday, September 25. 2026, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for a removal in the 1300 block of Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan.
While enroute, officers received information that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol and being verbally aggressive with the victim. Upon arrival, officers were let into the apartment by the victim. As officers entered they observed the suspect standing in the doorway to the bedroom which was partially open. As officers attempted to speak with the suspect, they observed him raise his right arm and point a firearm at the officers. The suspect then hid the firearm behind his back and retreated into the bedroom as officers shouted verbal commands demanding the suspect drop the firearm to which he refused.
Additional units arrived on scene in an effort to assist in evacuating residents from the apartment. Once the residents were safely removed, officers’ focused their efforts to de-escalate the armed suspect. Eventually, the suspect exited the bedroom and was subsequently taken into custody following a brief struggle. Officers searched the bedroom and located the following items: 9mm Smith and Wesson M&P Shield handgun loaded with six rounds of live ammunition, a box of .380 ammunition, six individual plastic bags containing twenty-one grams of crack cocaine, and an undisclosed amount of US Currency.
The suspect was observed to be wearing an electronic monitoring device around his ankle.
The suspect, Alfonso Muniz, 47-years-old, of Dorchester, remained combative and refused the booking process. Muniz is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon to wit; Firearm, Firearm Violation with Three Prior Violent/Drug Crimes, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Trafficking Cocaine.
