At about 1:17 AM on Sunday, May 31, 2026, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a removal in the area of 100 Stuart Street in Boston.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that as he was attempting to remove an intoxicated patron, he was violently assaulted. The victim stated that while escorting the suspect out of the establishment, the suspect became enraged and put the victim in a headlock restricting the victim’s airway.
Officers attempted to speak to the suspect who refused and instead challenged the officers to a physical altercation. Officers repeatedly attempted to de-escalate the situation to no avail, as the intoxicated suspect continued yelling at officers and threatening to physically harm them. The suspect continued his aggressive behavior eventually shoving one of the officers in the chest. As officers attempted to place the suspect into custody, he violently resisted causing a lengthy physical confrontation to occur. Officers were kicked, punched, and elbowed during the struggle, but as additional units arrived on scene, the aggressive suspect was taken into custody.
Officers arrested Kyle Corkum, 26-years-old, of Tyngsboro. Corkum is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Strangulation, Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon to wit; Shod Foot, Assault and Battery, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, and Malicious Destruction of Property, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest.
