Boston Police Recognize World Suicide Prevention Day: “You Are Not Alone”

On this World Suicide Prevention Day, the Boston Police Department (BPD) joins communities around the globe in raising awareness about suicide prevention, offering support to those in crisis, and honoring the lives lost to suicide.

The Boston Police Department encourages anyone struggling with mental health challenges or suicidal thoughts to seek help. Resources are available 24/7:

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988
  • Boston Emergency Services Team (BEST): 1-800-981-4357
  • Boston Police Department Crisis Intervention Team (CIT): Officers trained to respond to mental health emergencies

Today, we also stand in support of the families, friends, and colleagues affected by suicide, including those within the law enforcement community. We recognize the unique mental health challenges faced by first responders and remain committed to fostering a culture of wellness, openness, and support within our department.

On this important day, the Boston Police Department calls on all residents to check in with loved ones and speak openly about mental health.
