Investigation Update: Suspect Arrested for the Homicide at Blue Hill Avenue and Georgia Street, Dorchester

Investigation Update: At about 11:45 AM, on Thursday, September 4, 2025, officers assigned to the Boston Police Fugitive Unit with the assistance from the Massachusetts State Police and U.S. Marshals Service, arrested Jordan Evans, 32, of Canton, in Canton. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was wanted for the murder of Shakar Caterson, 35, of Dorchester.

Evans is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following charges:

  • Murder
  • Carry a Firearm without a License Second Offense
  • Firearm Violation with Two Prior Violent/Drug Crimes
  • Discharge a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building
  • Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Subsequent Offense
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Second Offense

The facts and circumstances surrounding the prior incident are as follows: At about 11:00 PM, on Saturday, May 3, 2025, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a Person Shot in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Georgia Street in Dorchester.

Upon arrival, Officers located a Shakar Caterson suffering from a gunshot wound. Boston EMS responded and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
