Firearm Recovered After Suspect Flees Traffic Stop

On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested a 17-year-old Juvenile Male, on multiple firearm related offenses.

About 6:29 PM, officers were alerted of an attempted robbery on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain. Boston Police Operations broadcasted a description of the suspects, and that they were seen fleeing on a scooter. One of the suspects attempted to rob the victim of the firearm.

The suspects were seen operating their scooter on Blue Hill Avenue towards Talbot Avenue. Officers activated their marked cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop, however the scooter failed to stop.

The scooter was seen to be stopped in traffic, and officers were able to box in the suspects. The passenger exited the scooter and fled on foot, while the operator was able to make good on his escape.

A foot chase ensued and the suspect was seen running towards 155 Talbot Avenue. Officers observed the suspect throw a firearm from his right hand onto the roof of the building. The suspect was placed into custody, and a firearm was recovered.

District B-3 Detectives were requested to respond and process the evidence. The firearm was determined to be a Taurus 9mm, affixed with a flashlight, and twelve rounds in the magazine.

The 17-year-old juvenile male was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court for the following offenses:

–          Delinquent to wit; Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License

–          Delinquent to wit; Carrying a Firearm without a License

–          Delinquent to wit; Unlawful Possession of Ammunition

–          Delinquent to wit; Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
