On Saturday, August 23, 2025, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Nathias Villanueva, 18, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on various firearm offenses.
About 12:20 AM, officers were on patrol in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Washington Street, when they observed a group of individuals running across the street all dressed in black while holding their waistbands. Further observations were made of the group attempting to conceal themselves behind multiple trees.
Officers exited their cruiser and approached the group on foot. Officers announced their presence, and the group fled in a full sprint in different directions. A foot chase pursuit and a suspect was seen clutching his waistband as he was running. Officers were able to stop the suspect, and recovered a firearm from his sweatpants.
District B-2 Detectives responded to the scene and determined the firearm to be a Glock 20 with one round in the chamber and fourteen rounds in the magazine.
Villanueva was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following offenses:
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
- Carrying a Firearm without a License
- Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device
- Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
