On Saturday, May 31, 2025, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested 42-year-old Sonny Deloacth of Mattapan on multiple firearm and drug-related charges following a traffic stop at the intersection of Columbia Road and Devon Street in Dorchester.
At approximately 12:40 AM, officers on routine patrol observed a vehicle traveling on Devon Street toward Normandy Street that matched the description of a vehicle connected to an ongoing investigation involving a person with a firearm. Officers requested additional units and initiated a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Columbia Road and Devon Street.
During the stop, officers identified the operator as Sonny Deloacth and conducted a preliminary investigation. As a result, officers recovered a loaded .45 caliber Ruger SR45 firearm with an obliterated serial number from Deloacth’s waistband. The firearm was found to contain one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine. Additionally, officers recovered 12 plastic bags containing a white, rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine from his pants pocket, along with an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.
Deloacth was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on the following charges:
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (3rd Offense)
- Firearm Violation with Two Prior Violent and/or Drug Offenses
- Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number
- Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Substance (Cocaine) (Subsequent Offense)
- Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License (Subsequent Offense)
