On Sunday, March 30, 2025, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) and District C-6 (South Boston) arrested 21-year-old Juan Mejia Caminero of Roxbury following a traffic stop at 301 Warren Street in Roxbury. The arrest stems from an investigation into a recent non-fatal shooting in Dorchester.
On Sunday, March 23, 2025, officers assigned to District C-11 responded to a radio call for an unknown issue at 908 Dorchester Avenue. Upon arrival, they located an adult male victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, and officers, along with detectives, initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives assigned to District C-6 determined that the shooting had occurred earlier that day, at approximately 12:23 AM, in a parking lot at South Bay Mall, located at 1104 Massachusetts Avenue. Investigators were able to identify a suspect vehicle and broadcast this information to officers citywide.
On Saturday, March 29, 2025, at approximately 9:40 AM, officers assigned to District B-2 observed the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of McDonald’s at 301 Warren Street in Roxbury. Officers conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Juan Mejia Caminero.
Following further investigation, Mejia Caminero was placed under arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court on the following charges:
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm)
- Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Three Counts)
