At about 3:02 PM, on Thursday, February 20, 2025, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) arrested a 14-year-old and 16-year-old Juvenile Males, for robbery and assault charges
Officers responded to the area of 450 Washington Street for a report of an Assault and Battery in progress. Officers were advised by Macy’s loss prevention that a group of five juveniles assaulted a victim inside of the store. Officers were told that the victim was punched and kicked multiple times.
Officers were provided a description of the group and that they fled towards the MBTA Redline train station. Officers observed one of the juveniles matching the description and attempted to speak with him. The suspect initially refused to stop, but officers quickly caught up to him. The suspect declined to identify himself, and was placed into handcuffs.
Officers were able to speak with the victim, and were advised that he was using the restroom before the group came into the bathroom. The group then followed him around the store, and began to videotape him. The group began to harass the victim, and stole his bag. At that time, the group began to assault the victim by punching and kicking him. The victim refused medical treatment on scene.
Officers were able to review security footage and disseminated photos of the suspects involved in the incident. Officers began to canvass the area and located two juvenile males matching the descriptions. Officers stopped the suspects and attempted to speak with them. One of the juveniles was compliant with officers while the other became combative and refused to answer basic questions. Officers placed the suspect into handcuffs, to which he then spat on an officer.
The 14-year-old Juvenile Male was charged with Unarmed Robbery, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery.
The 16-year-old Juvenile Male was charged with Unarmed Robbery, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Two Counts of Assault and Battery.
Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
