Investigation Update: At about 4:45 PM, on Friday, December 20, 2024, members of the Fugitive Unit arrested Rasheedah Hughes, 40 of Boston, in the area of Hammond Street. At the time of her arrest, the suspect was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant issued out of Roxbury District Court for the Murder of Celia Simmons, 65, of Boston. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on Monday, December 23, 2024.
The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows: At 12:48 PM, on Saturday, November 16th, 2024, Officers assigned to District D-4 (South End/Back Bay) responded to a radio call for a person stabbed at Ramsey Park, located at 1917 Washington St, Boston.
Upon arrival, officers observed a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Boston EMS transported the victim to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The victim was later pronounced deceased. The victim has since been identified as Celia Simmons, 65, of Boston.
The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470.
