At about 1:00 PM, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, members of the Citywide Drug Control Unit arrested Jose Martinez, 30, of Everett, for drug trafficking.
Officers were conducting an ongoing drug investigation in the area of Dudley Street and Columbia Road. Officers observed three individuals walking together, and came to a stop behind a utility pole. The group began to huddle together for a few moments before separating and walking in different directions. One of the individuals looked down at his hand as if he was holding a small object.
Officers believed that a street level drug transaction had transpired. Officers approached two of the individuals who had recovered a plastic bag of Fentanyl. Officers advised the suspect that he would be summoned to court for Possession of Class A.
Officers then observed the second suspect get on an MBTA bus and flee the area. Officers were able to follow the bus and conducted a traffic stop in the area of 8 Allstate Road. With the assistance of responding officers, the suspect was removed from the bus and placed into handcuffs.
Officers conducted a search incident to arrest and recovered a plastic bag of Fentanyl, a plastic bag of Crack Cocaine, and fourteen individual wrapped plastic bags of Crack Cocaine. The drugs were later weighed and determined to be about 15 grams of Fentanyl, and 23 grams of Crack Cocaine. Officers also recovered approximately $1,440 in U.S. Currency.
Martinez was placed under arrest and charged with Trafficking of Class A Fentanyl, Trafficking of Class B Crack Cocaine, and Distribution of Class A Fentanyl. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
